As its a Halloween freebie I went for 10 of the most scariest books, no I haven't read most of the books but I've heard from others about how scary they actually are and well, its Halloween so why not share the spooks?
The Exorcist - William Peter Blatty
American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis
Invisible Man - Ralph Ellison
Hell House - Richard Matheson
Blindness - Jose Saramago
The Trial - Franz Kafka
Lord Of The Flies - William Golding
Cock & Bull - Will Self
Disgrace - J.M. Coetzee
The Stranger - Albert Camus

DeleteThe Lord of the Flies and The Stranger are scary in their own ways. They're not scary in the usual sense of spooks and blood, but they make you think and that can be the scariest thing sometimes. Nice list. :)
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you there they are not the normal kind of 'scary'. I'm glad you like the list.
DeleteGood list. I love Hell House (even the cheesy movie). Blindness was very disturbing, though not in a scary way (for the love of god, skip the movie)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it. And I will definitely skip the movie 😁
DeleteBlindness and American Psycho both offer scares in vastly different ways. Lord of the Flies can be scary, I guess, but it made me mostly pissed off at those kids. LOL! I really want to read Hell House, though. Especially now that so many people have included it on their lists.
