Will Grayson Will Grayson - John Green and David Levithan

So this was my final physical book that I owned and also a possible last book for 2015, its been an awesome time for reading this year and I must thank every author who's books I have had the pleasure to read this year and I hope you like this review.

Book Synopsis:

Will Grayson meets Will Grayson. One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two strangers are about to cross paths. From that moment on, their world will collide and lives intertwine.

Review:

I absolutely loved reading this book, for once I managed and loved to read from two different perspectives and I couldn't wait to see how it would all work out. Both Will Graysons have their own issues going on. John Green's Will is terrified of getting close to anyone, and we see how this starts to impact on his relationships in the book. Levithan's Will is an isolated, lonely and very sad character. If there's ever a character in need of a hug, it's this Will. I could empathise with both of them so much and just wanted things to work out well for them.

I didn't see the 'major' event at the beginning coming,there's is no way I can explain it to you but it hurt me, an absolute killer of an event. I felt so much empathy for Levithan's Will in particular. The book as a whole focuses on coming to terms with your sexuality, figuring out who you can trust and dealing with some awful issues as a teenager. Levithan's Will has depression and it's portrayal is spot on. It isn't often that books are written from the point of view of a character that is living with it - usually it is someone coming to terms with having it. I just wanted to look after him, to support him and tell him to power through because things get better.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson is such an emotional read. I loved most of the characters and loved to hate a few. I  seem to want to read a lot of Levithan lately. I need to read more of  his books because they are absolutely fantastic writer. I have read all of John Greens books now and that makes me a little sad, but if you want to read more LGBT issues or mental health issues in books, this is one of the ones worth starting with . The issues were dealt with, with such sensitivity and knowledge; I have so much compassion for these characters and I'd love to read about their lives further. I loved it. It blew me away and I really want to read another book written by both of these guys.

I have to give this book a 5/5, it completely blew me away and will always hold a place on my bookshelf and in my heart.

Top Ten Tuesday - Quotes I Loved From Books I Read In The Past Year Or So

Who doesn't love a good book quote? I LOVE THEM WITH ALL MY HEART.

"Just don’t trip. Whatever you do, don’t trip, Addie.
The limb from the fallen tree did not hear my inner monologue, because my foot caught on the log and slung me onto the sidewalk." - This quote is taken from the first page of Memphis Hoodoo Murders written by Kathryn Rogers, I love it because its what would happen to me, tell myself not to trip, trips up in the most embarrassing way.

“You know, I've worked out that if I lived on Mercury I'd be sixty-six years old tomorrow. I'd be twenty-six on Venus, and half a year old on Saturn. I'm only sixteen because I'm on this planet.”  This quote is taken from Geek Girl Picture Perfect - Holly Smale. I just love the fact that Harriet Manners knows how old she is on other planets, it kind of makes me think of how old I am on other planets.

"That's the thing about parents. They ask what you think, but they don't really care, or at least they don't care enough to let it affect the outcome.”   This is from The Before Now And After Then by Peter Monn, I love it because its truthful in many cases. I love many quotes from this book but I chose this because I just relate to it a little.

"I wake up thinking of yesterday. The joy is in remembering; the pain is in knowing it was yesterday.”- This is from Everyday by David Levithan, I love how I can relate to it, I always think of the day before inducing the pain of knowing it was yesterday.

“The world moves fast, changing everything around us with each new day. Photography is a gift that can keep us in a moment forever, blissfully eternal.” This is from The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak, I love that its true, photos can keep us in a moment forever and I think we kind of forget that sometimes.

“God gave men both a brain and a penis and only enough blood to use one at a time,” he replied matter-of-factly.” This is from Confessions of a queen B* by Crista McHugh. I don't love it as a quote I just like it because it made me giggle. I don't want the quote to offend anyone.

“So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane.” This is from Looking For Alaska by John Green, I love many quotes by John Green but this one is one of my favourites.

So I didn't want to use all book quotes, and I didn't want to use more than one quote from a book so I have added three quotes that I have found in the last year than I love.

"You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it." Benjamin Mee, We Bought A Zoo.

"So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers."- Jorge Luis Borges.

"I've had so many knives stuck into me, when they hand me a flower I cant quite make out what it is. It takes time." - Charles Bukowski.

Top Ten Tuesday - Book To Movie Adaptations I'm Looking Forward To/Book To Movie Adaptations I Cant Wait For

I myself love book to film adaptations, if I know there is a film adaptation of a book I tend to read the book before watching the film just because I would like my own imagination to create it all before I watch someone else's imagination create it on TV.

This post is a mix of both adaptations I'm looking forward too and those I can't wait for.



Book To Film Adaptations I need to watch;
1. The Hunger Games - Mockingjay Part 2
2. Room - The book is written by Emma Donoghue and the film released November 6th.
3.The Martian. The Book is written by Andy Weir , the movie starts Matt Damon
4.The Scorch Trials, I actually haven't read any of the books by this point but I can make an exception.
5. Paper Towns, originally written by the fabulous John Green I have read it but have yet to see it, but lets face it, I half want to see it just for Cara Delevingne and Nat Wollf. Sorry Not Sorry

Book To Film Adaptations I Cant Wait For; (this will list apparent adaptations set for 2016 with supposed actors and some confirmed films.)
1. The Jungle book written by Rudyard Kipling is set to start Scarlett Johansson and is apparently due out in April 2016
2. Allegiant, well what can I say? I loved the movies and books so far.
3. The BFG written by Roald Dahl is set to hit cinemas in July 2016
4.A monster calls written by Patrick Ness is apparently hitting cinemas in October of 2016
5. Looking for Alaska written by John Green is apparently in production?? due to hit cinemas sometime in 2016??

So this week was really hard for me considering I cant remember half of the books I've ever read, I mean all I can remember are those I've read this year and distinct authors from my childhood, I gave this list my best shot anyway.

Top Ten Tuesday - Auto Buy Authors

 

Being low on funds, I'm working this list about authors who's books I would automatically buy if I could. I usually find it hard to ask for things, mostly because I think money could be spent other ways for the better and not on me, but my mom always says when I eventually ask to buy something either in store or from the internet (usually books) that I rarely have anything so of course I can. I still don't ask often, I treat it as a kind of reward of sorts so even though the list contains auto buy authors its going to be 'if I could afford to buy them.'

Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten Authors I've Read The Most Books From

To put them on the list I'm going to go by a rule of if I've read 3 books or more from the same author. Even though the topic was easy for me to do I could only do 8 because other authors I had read I had only done 1 or 2 books and I just wanted to stick with the 3+ rule.



Suzanne Collins (3) - The famous Hunger Game trilogy, oh how I loved reading them, ill re visit them some day in the future.

Holly Smale (3/5) - On my shelf I have them stored in order, I have 5 books and so far only read 3 but that number shall grow soon.

J.R.R.Tolkien (4) - Im looking to grow this number too, J.R.R Tolkien' writing never failed to interest me so hopefully one day I can expand my books owned and books read numbers.



 

John Green (4/5) - Much like Holly Smale, I have more of John's books to read but I have to find time to read so many books its hard to fit them all in.

 

Dr Seuss (6) - To what I remember, I count 6 books from Dr Seuss that I've read, one day I'll go and binge buy them all at the age of 20 and pretend they're for someone else.

 

Roald Dahl (8)- We used to have two copies of most of the books so me and my sister would either lie on our beds and read parts to each other taking it in turns or we would both read the same book to ourselves as we lay on our beds. I'm not entirely sure where they are now.

 

J.K Rowling (8) - Even though not long after reading it, I lost my copy of The Tales Of Beedle The Bard im still 8. Of course I read the Harry Potter series but I'm yet to get my hands on her most recent books she published under Robert Galbraith and The Casual Vacancy.

 

Dame Jacqueline Wilson (15+) - I read them from when I was ten until maybe 13 and they're all now stored in the loft to find a new home with someone who's going to read and enjoy them as much as I did.
