Here's to 2017

2016 has been filled with sadness and grief but looking past that, there have been great moments and acheivements.

So I wanted to take a moment on the first day of 2017 to thank you all for visiting this blog and making it what it is. I hope you, your families and friends have a great new year. I hope you'll come back to visit me from time to time.

Thankyou for being an incredible audience and I hope we can make this blog even more than what it is now

The Last Grey Sky - Natalie Scrivener

Synopsis:
There were two things that brought the world to its knees. First the colours. Then the insanity.


Review:

So I found this book on an app called Inkitt, it just attracted me instantly and I couldn't turn away. The book is all about Gwen, who is part of a camp who are trying to survive in the world that is overtaken by a disease that makes you see colour when infected. After shocks which included seeing the execution of an infected camp member and later seeing colour, she is faced with 2 choices to leave, or be put down. At first she aimed to leave and die alone away from her friends so she isn't any harm to her campmate, but after a short while she cant find it within herself to do it, that's when Ryan who she had encountered in camp finds her, begging for him to do it all over again like she had seen him do before, she begs to be put down by him because he unlike her is stronger than she is. He can't face it, she's just a child and after a short argument, they both run away together, away from the threat of death towards the hope of surviving without fear.

Like they both thought, after a while as they head towards the city where they heard a cure was being made, they both end up seeing colour and Gwen holds her guilt to infecting Ryan close to heart but he doesn't blame her at all, he knew the risk and took it anyway. The city sounds like its too good to be true but is it or not?  it's really a book to read if you want to find out if all is as it seems.

The characters were so easy to connect with, I felt the pain for Gwen as she experiences the highs and lows of her journey to surviving the new world. The highs were in fact that the colours she experience were truly beautiful. She's 17 years old and being only a year younger than me I felt like it was much easier to connect with her although I'm not living in a world like she is, but I felt like we had certain emotions and reactions to certain situations that mirrored each other.

Ryan was a great character too, he was willing to risk all for a girl he knew very little about and he didn't give it a second thought. He was a gentleman and really decent male character, he was the sort you wished were real because he seems better than half of the guys you actually know in real life.

There are so many characters that come into the story, they're all well written, well explored and each have a great part to play in the unravelling of the plot. The plot was very unique and beautiful, I was really gripped by each page. The ending blew me away really, each chapter blew me away so it all came together and blew me half the way around the world. It's definitely a book worth reading if you like adventures and action and if you're looking for something that will keep its hold on you. I really want to speak to the author and have a good old chat about it all. its a 5/5 from me with no second thought needed.

Fist Bump Feeling

The undeniable feeling in your stomach, the butterflies, the fear.
You bounce your feet, your whole body shaking
The clock ticks down, the end coming quick
Stomach turning, churning.
Chills running up and down your body
79:59, 80:00, your heart lightens, the urge to cry washing over you, you won, they won.
You dance a little, pride coursing through your veins, you feel the way they do, patriotic, overwhelmed and utterly speechless.
You watch them celebrate, hugs, pats on backs, piggy back rides.
Its just that fist bump feeling.



This post is all about the winning and winners of 2016 RBS Six Nations, the emotions I felt and others felt as the clock ticked over to 80 minutes and we knew we had won the Grand Slam not only this years Six Nations.

Top Ten Tuesday - Resolutions I Have For 2015

I don't usually make or have any resolutions because I was always used to failing at them. but for the purpose of this post I will make some and try hard to stick to them. They will be a mix of personal and bookish.

1. To finally read the maze runner series after all this time of wanting to buy and read it.
2. To try to read over 25 books in the year and therefore pass my year goal.
3. Work on my book, don't rush to finish it, take my time, as much as I need.
4. Connect more with you guys, I feel as though we have a brick wall between us and only a few people climb over.
5. Connect and interview more authors, not just connecting with them just for an interview.
6. Create a wonderful and calming reading space (my room) when I re-decorate.
7. Continue and progress with playing my guitar after having one for 4 years now and buying a second last year.
8. Become even more fluent in German, even though I had done 2 years of German in my second secondary school, after leaving I forgot most of it but in late 2015 decided I wanted to pick it back up as I quite enjoyed learning a new language.
9. Cut down on my intake of cheese, this may sound bizarre but in all the past years, I would be eating so much cheese I was turning to a mouse.
10. Stop drinking fizzy pop, although the year has already begun I haven't consumed that much of the lovely fizzy pop but this year I want to try and cut it out, drink water and love it like I already do.

Happy New Year!

2015 Has been an amazing year for this blog and I'm forever grateful to of had this experience. 2015 bought the blog to not only the 1000 views milestone, also the 2000,3000 and 4000 milestone. I'm so thankful for your support and visits to this blog. its never been about the numbers but about me reading and writing, doing what I love for others to see.

Not only this but 2015 was the year that bought me my 17th birthday and a large personal milestone. This is also a year that bought me an amaxing friend and allowed me to strengthened the friendship bonds between me and so many people in school. Not much else happened that is so significant but I really hope that 2016 holds more fantastic things for both me and my family and you.

I hope the year brings us all great things and treats us well, for those who didn't have a great 2015 I hope you are able to have a better 2016.
